Fairview in Salem, Oregon was a state-run facility housing infants, children, and adults with developmental disabilities. Thousands of people who have spent a significant portion of their lives inside the institution were moved out gradually, until finally its doors were closed in 2000. Some of my collaborators at Project Grow lived inside the now crumbling buildings. We returned in the summer of 2011 and they gave us a tour. Working with artists, Corky Miller and Scott Ray Becker, we created this document of the return to Fairview.
