Field trip.

You are never too old for a field trip, my friend.  Today, I had the pleasure of dropping in on a dying workshop coordinated by a couple of great fiber artists in Portland, Joel Weber of Indigo Dye & Fiber Works and Jen Erickson. A week ago Jen, Joel, and a group of great curious minds prepared lovely silk scarves by going on a stroll and gathering leaves, flowers, and objects that spoke to them (this process is called eco-dying). These were tightly wrapped and soaked in 'magic', as Joel calls it. Today, we carefully unwrapped each item. The delicate imprints left by the miscellaneous items from nature have a haunting and soothing quality.

So my friend. Go on a field trip to wherever you can find inspiration. Along the way, gather some leaves, flowers, and pinecones that inspire you and perhaps you too will be a magician.
